Restaurant Week boosts downtown business

SPOKANE, Wash.--The first-ever Restaurant Week boosted business over the weekend in downtown. Managers at Luigi's Italian Restaurant said that business increased 10% compared to the same week last year.

"It's almost forcing our guests to say, ‘hey you know I'll try this,’” said employee Marty Hodberg.

Restaurant Week features 50 businesses across Spokane. Each participating location provides a three-course meal for a fixed price: either $18 or $28. That does not include taxes or tip, but in each case it includes an appetizer, main course and a dessert.

The Director of Marketing for the Davenport Hotel, Matt Jensen, said that restaurants are seeing more foot traffic. The Davenport operates the nearby Post Street Ale House which is serving more local customers.

“It's been busy,” said Jensen, “last weekend I know we saw a big surge in business. It's been great for the restaurant."

"We would love to see this every winter in Spokane. I think it's just a great reason for people to come out of their homes,” added Jensen.

Spokane Restaurant Week lasts 10 days and ends on March 3rd.
