SPOKANE-- A community came together to find a missing North Spokane woman who suffers from seizures and short term memory loss.
Kathryn Burger, 53, had been last seen at her home in the 27000 block of North Bear Lake Road Thursday night. Burger had brain surgery eleven months ago. Her medical conditions made finding the woman a priority.
Deputies searched on land and by air Friday until a neighbor found her safe lying in his backyard.
“On my way back, I saw her just lying on the ground with her knees up, and I asked who she was. I ran over to the cops as soon as possible,” Kyle Phillips said.
KREM 2 saw the 20-year-old early Friday and told him about his missing neighbor. He joined the growing effort to find this missing woman.
Eventually, Phillips noticed her in a wooded area behind his house. He describes Burger as being a little out of it when he saw her.
“I’m just glad we found her. I’m just really relieved that this didn’t go on longer than it had to,” Phillips said.
Burger was taken to the hospital to be evaluated. She is expected to be fine.
