SPOKANE VALLEY-- Spokane Valley Sheriff’s Deputies shot and killed a domestic violence suspect Wednesday.
According to Spokane Police the incident started Tuesday evening when a woman was stabbed by her boyfriend on the 1300 block of North Skipworth. The woman did not report the stabbing to police until Wednesday morning.
At 10:30am Spokane Valley Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the home and the woman showed deputies her injuries. Deputies learned the male suspect had taken her black Mercedes and fled the home prior to their arrival. The suspect was determined to be homicidal and suicidal.
A short time later, the suspect, driving the black Mercedes, drove past deputies parked in the area of University and Boone. Deputies followed the suspect in a short vehicle pursuit that ended on Pierce.
The suspect left his vehicle and ran through neighborhood yards. Other responding deputies confronted the suspect in the backyard of the girlfriend's home. At 12:08 p.m., Deputies advised “shots fired” and immediately began performing CPR. The suspect was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
No officers were shot. Police have not said if the suspect was armed.
One witness told KREM 2 News she heard 3 guns shots.
Members of the Spokane Investigative Regional Response team responded to complete the investigation, per the regional critical incident protocol. Under the protocol a case manager is assigned, in this incident the Spokane Police Department detectives will be case managers, with assistance from the Washington State Patrol and Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
