FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Air Force leaders announced plans Thursday for a public memorial to honor the KC-135 crew during a plane crash killed in Kyrgyzstan.

The memorial will be held May 28th at 1-3 p.m. at the Inland Northwest Bank Performing Arts Center in Spokane. The memorial is open to the public.

Capt. Mark Tyler Voss, Capt. Victoria Pinckney and Tech. Sgt. Herman “Tre” Mackey III died while they were deployed at the Transit Center at Manas, Kyrgyzstan.

“This memorial is a reminder for us to remember that freedom is never free, and we will not forget the sacrifices of Capt. Voss, Capt. Pinckney and Tech. Sgt. Mackey. They were great Airmen and will be forever missed,” said Col. Brian Newberry, 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander.
