SPOKANE -- Spokane Police are reporting that they have noticed new prostitution activity at two East-Central parks. Neighbors and park users are complaining and officers are trying to keep up.
Police said they have spotted prostitution activity at Liberty Park and about a mile away at Underhill Park. They said even though they are patrolling the area a few times a day, they cannot catch them all.
Sherwin Elston lives along Underhill Park. He frequently spends times at the park with his family. But recently he said there has been more than just harmless play going on at the park. Elston said in the last month he started to notice prostitutes hanging out at the park. Since then, he has been keeping a closer eye on his children.
Police said prostitutes and their customers head to a dead end at the park or mix in among other cars. Police said it is happening at all hours of the day. They said it is hard to catch people in the act because those people breaking the law are in and out in less than five minutes.
