SPOKANE, Wash. -- Federal prosecutors have revised the sentencing range they are seeking for Karl Thompson.
They will now seek more time behind bars for the former police officer.
Thompson is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 15, more than a year after a jury convicted him of lying to investigators and using excessive force in the death of Otto Zehm in 2006.
Prosecutors originally asked for six to eight years behind bars for Thompson, but court documents filed late last week show the level of Thompson’s offenses call for a nine to 11-year sentence.
