COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho--Coeur d’Alene Police officers closed access to the beach Monday afternoon near the 1400 block of Lakeshore Drive due to a possible small explosive device found in the area.

A homeowner reported finding the device as he was doing beach clean-up.

The scene was stable around 4:00 p.m. Police said there were not any structures or citizens at risk. The device looks like a pipe bomb according to police at the scene.

Coeur d’Alene Officers said they were in contact with the Spokane Bomb Squad about the device.

The device was moved off scene Monday night and would be detonated off site, according to officials. It was not clear if the device contained any explosive material.
