SPOKANE, Wash. -- Spokane police arrested a man for his suspected involvement in a drive-by shooting as they investigated an unrelated homicide this week.
Jimmy Blackburn, 29, was staying in a room at the Days Inn in Downtown Spokane Thursday morning when police searched the hotel. They were investigating a homicide that happened there that morning.
The drive-by shooting happened Wednesday afternoon. Police say Blackburn was riding a stolen red scooter near 33rd and Thor when he confronted three teens. He allegedly fired a handgun at the kids, but ended up striking a parked car.
Blackburn was arrested at the hotel for a previous warrant. He now faces three additional charges of attempted murder, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of stolen property. The suspect was not involved with the homicide.
Blackburn remains in jail.
