OSBURN, Idaho -- Police arrested an Osburn woman on Wednesday for murder. Yet, court documents filed on Thursday revealed that the victim might have been dead for more than one year.
Documents stated Gregory Reed Sr. died around May 2012. Officers arrested Jackie Reed, 50, for his death. It is unclear what the relationship is between the suspect and the victim.
Local, Idaho State authorities, and the Social Security Administration are investigating the death.
Workers at the Coronor's Office said they removed Reed’s remains from this Osburn trailer on Wednesday. Police surrounded the suspect’s house with biohazard and crime scene tape.
Neighbors told KREM 2 News that they were surprised and thought Reed was a nice woman.
One neighbor also said that she had not seen the murder victim for a long time.
“I was absolutely stunned,” said one neighbor.
Reed’s neighbors wished to remain anonymous, but said they watched as local authorities and federal agents searched their neighbor’s property on Wednesday.
“To me she's been very nice,” said one neighbor. “We've had coffee together. She talked about her kids and what they were doing, just a normal person.”
A Shoshone County judge set Reed’s bond at $250,000.
Authorities said an autopsy still needs to be conducted to determine how the victim died.
