SPOKANE, Wash. -- A possible crime led to a vehicle hitting a man in North Spokane on Tuesday afternoon. The victim was taken to the hospital according to police at the scene.
The incident began at the Zip Trip near Division and Augusta around 12:40 p.m. The clerk thought he saw someone shoplifting inside of the store. The clerk told authorities that he went outside to confront the alleged shoplifter.
Police said that is when the alleged shoplifter got into a car, panicked, and backed into a man. Officers said the man who was hit was bent over putting air into his tires. The impact knocked the man over and caused him to hit his head.
The suspect fled the scene northbound on Ruby. Officers described the suspect’s vehicle as a light blue, four-door sedan.
