SPOKANE, Wash.—Spokane authorities hope a new website describing the dangers of gang life helps deter violence in the region.

The website was developed by the Greater Spokane Substance Abuse Council (GSSAC) and the Spokane Violent Crime Gang Enforcement Team (SVCGET).

It is the first comprehensive and in-depth gang prevention and intervention website in the Northwest.  Officials said it is to encourage neighbors to prevent, report, and get involved in the anti-gang effort.

The website is intended to educate Spokane County residents about the gang presence in the area, gang indicators, their common criminal activities, the dangers of joining gangs, and the various prevention and intervention efforts being undertaken.

People can also submit anonymous tips to local law enforcement. Those sending in crime tips are then given a tip number to track the status of their tip.

For more information you can visit the website, www.stopspokanegangs.org.
