SPOKANE--Police chased down a Department of Corrections escapee on Spokane’s lower South Hill Thursday night.

Officers say it started when undercover agents tried to pull the suspect over on Sprague.  They had to be careful because it was reported the suspect had a shotgun.

When agents approached the car the suspect took off.  During the chase, the suspect got out of the car and took another car at home on 11th in the Perry neighborhood.  It’s unknown if the suspect stole the car or borrowed it from a friend.

Police spotted the car on 7th and Browne.  That’s when the suspect jumped out of the vehicle and was chased down by a K-9 unit.

The suspect is considered an escapee because he didn’t check in with his parole officer.
