SPOKANE, Wash—Idaho State Patrol troopers took someone into custody Thursday night in connection with a Northwest Spokane kidnapping investigation.

Thursday afternoon, police and members of SWAT surrounded a home near the intersection of Maple and Knox in Spokane.

Police said officers were executing a search warrant at the residence. The warrant was related to an on-going investigation into an alleged kidnapping in that area.

Neighbors said they suspected drug activity at the duplex and were not surprised to see SWAT members outside.

“It looks like a scary house,” said David Craig. “I would have expected what is being investigated to actually happen at this house.”

The next-door neighbor described police officers filing in one after another during the afternoon search.

“I was in a dead sleep,” said Travis Corneil. “They said, ‘Spokane Police Department, come out with your hands up’.”

Police said the alleged victim was safe. Multiple agencies continued investigating.

Corneil said he hoped the activity would scare away criminals.

“Glad to get it out of here,” he said. “I don’t like meth.”

Spokane Police did not confirm whether drugs were related.
