MEDICAL LAKE, Wash.-- Major Crimes detectives with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a suspicious fire in Medical Lake.
It happened around 2:00 a.m. at a home near Brooks and Martin.
The homeowner suffered minor injuries as a result of the fire.
Deputy Craig Chamberlin with the sheriff’s office says detectives are investigating several leads in this case. Neighbors say they heard a gunshot before the fire broke out, but Chamberlin says deputies cannot confirm a gun was fired. They are looking into the reports.
The forensics team was on hand to assist, as well as the Spokane Valley Fire Department. The investigation is ongoing. More information is expected Monday.
Authorities closed nearby streets for more than 12 hours to conduct the investigation. Martin remains closed from Brooks to 4th. Brooks has reopened.
