SPOKANE-- A man allegedly responsible for a rollover wreck that injured his son was drinking before he got in the car, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
The wreck happened Monday in the 14000 block of South Murphy Road.
Police initially believed Heath Barden of Cheney properly secured his children in the car before the wreck occurred. Upon further investigation, authorities learned Barden’s five-year-old son and seven-year-old daughter were improperly belted into the front passenger seat together.
Barden’s son suffered injuries in the wreck. Deputies called it a miracle that the children were not more seriously hurt.
After learning that Barden was reportedly drinking before the wreck, police arrested him for Vehicular Assault for his son’s injuries.
