COEUR D'ALENE -- A program in Coeur d'Alene that helps thousands of children and adults with special needs has been operation for nearly two decades.
Specialized Needs Recreation just moved into a new home in Coeur d'Alene. It is a place where kids of all ages and abilities can hang out. It is also the only special needs place in Kootenai County focused on providing activities such as summer camps.
The new facility is a big jump from where the group started out 18 years ago when organizers were working out of their cars. Then the organization moved to a building in the downtown area. But when the building went up for sale, they lost their lease. They were about two weeks from having to work out of their cars again because they couldn’t find the right kind of building. But they were able to come together and find a new place on North Government Way.
Specialized Needs Recreation needs your help in order to grow the facility. If you would like to donate, click on the link.
