AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. -- One man died in a semi-truck accident late Friday night on eastbound Interstate 90 near Spokane International Airport.
Aaron Edwards, 26, was driving east on I-90 just east of Geiger when he hit a freightliner that was slowed in congested traffic, according to the Washington State Patrol. Officials said Edwards was wearing a seatbelt.
Authorities said the driver and passenger of the freightliner were not injured. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a part in the crash.
The freightliner was driving east on I-90 when it slowed down for traffic congestion, according to the Washington State Patrol. Officials said a Kia Forte, also travelling east on I-90, hit the trailer of the freightliner. Both vehicles came to rest blocking the right eastbound lane. Traffic was blocked in the eastbound right lane for over four hours.
The crash is under investigation.
