COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho-- A Coeur D’Alene police officer walked away with no injuries early Wednesday after he wrecked his work vehicle.
Authorities said Officer Jason Wilhelm swerved to avoid hitting a deer around 1: 30 a.m. on westbound I-90. His unmarked 2007 GMC Envoy struck the median and rolled on its side, then slid down the freeway. The crash totaled the car.
Officer Wilhelm was evaluated at KMC where he was treated and released.
Idaho State Police are investigating the accident. Early indicators show no negligence by Officer Wilhelm and that his speed was consistent with highway speed.
