Post Falls shootout suspect indicted on 12 charges

KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho-- A grand jury announced charges Friday against a man involved in a large-scale officer involved shooting that shut down part of I-90 in Post Falls for 14 hours in June.

Marcus Rael is accused of brandishing a firearm and firing multiple gunshots following an eight-mile chase involving multiple law-enforcement agencies according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.  Witnesses described hearing hundreds of gunshots during the exchange with officers.

Rael was initially taken to Kootenai Health in critical condition. No one else was injured according to law enforcement.

The jury charged Marcus Rael with 12 counts of Assault with Intent to Commit Murder according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office. He is being held on a $4 million bond.
