KAMIAH, Idaho -- A northern Idaho high school principal has resigned following a drunk driving arrest.

The Lewiston Tribune reports that Rolland Sullivan resigned last weekend as principal of Kamiah High School.

The Kamiah School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday accepted the resignation that will take effect at the end of the school year.

Police say Sullivan was arrested Friday in Kamiah and that he failed a field sobriety test, and refused to take a breathalyzer test.

He pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Lewis County Magistrate Court to driving under the influence.

Kamiah School District Superintendent Fred Mercer says Sullivan did not list a reason for his resignation. Mercer says Sullivan has been the school's principal for five years.
