MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. -- A Friday fundraiser is collecting money for an Oklahoma family devastated by the tornado in Moore.

Emily Strickland, 8, was one of the kids who died when the tornado smashed into Plaza Towers Elementary School. Strickland’s uncle, Dan,  lives in Medical Lake, WA.

A spaghetti feed is scheduled for Friday, May 24th to benefit the Strickland family. The fundraiser will be held at Picnic Pines in Medical Lake. The event starts at noon.

Dan Strickland learned Tuesday that the tornado killed his niece on Monday.

Emily lived in Moore with her mother and sister according to Dan. He said Emily looked forward to learning how to swim from him.

"She was too young for this, she didn't even get to live life," said Dan. "She was an outgoing, fun little kid, you know, loved unicorns."

He told KREM 2 News that his other niece, Luci, was injured and hospitalized.

Three businesses in Medical Lake will also accept donations for the Strickland family. You can donate at the Wagon Wheel, Denny’s, and Picnic Pines. Donations can also be made online by clicking here.
