POST FALLS, Id. -- A new development in Post Falls, Idaho is raising safety concerns. A new Walmart is going in near Stateline by Cabela's. Post Falls Police are worried about safety because of the added traffic.
There is only one way into the shopping center right now. It is at the intersection of Baugh Way and Seltice. It is a concern for the Post Falls Chief of Police who expects plenty of congestion that could lead to accidents.
The developers of the new shopping center, Four Square Properties, have plans to put in an interchange costing about $30 million. Those plans are now on hold because of the economic crunch.
Another issue is the Spokane River Bridge near Stateline. It is expected to be closed for construction this summer. That will force more traffic through Baugh Way and Seltice.
Post Falls Police Chief Scot Haug is also concerned about man power for the new Walmart. There is already a Walmart in Post Falls and he says the police officers respond to calls about three to four times per day.
