SPOKANE VALLEY--The Spokane Valley Mall is getting another big name clothing store and mall officials hope it's a sign the economy is improving.
H&M opens in the fall and the mall says the types of new stores coming are becoming more diverse.
H&M first opened in Sweden and has a cult following. There are close to 2,600 stores worldwide, but it’s a first not only in Spokane, but all of Eastern Washington.
The chain says it picked Spokane Valley Mall because of the mix of stores and the valley's business climate. Mall staff says they designated 20,000 square feet for H&M to feel at home.
It's not just H&M. Existing stores like Victoria's Secret have recently remodeled. Dick's Sporting Goods will also set up shop there soon too and there’s more to come next year. Several new stores will open, including national brands and smaller boutiques.
In the meantime this shopping center hopes the H&M brand will get local shopper's attention.
H&M plans to hire around 30 people.
