SPOKANE, Wash.-- Neighbors of the man accused of sending letters laced with ricin to the Downtown Spokane Post Office are shocked by everything that has happened in the case.
Scott Ward lives in a Browne’s Addition apartment unit right across the hall from where investigators executed a search warrant Saturday.
“I way laying in bed, halfway out of it ready to get up. I heard a bunch of banging. I thought someone might get hurt or something,” said Ward.
Ward said he’s seen his neighbor and suspect Matthew Buquet every once and a while but didn’t say much to each other.
He was shocked to learn authorities accused Buquet of mailing the letters but admits he doesn’t know much about him.
Other neighbors said Buquet kept to himself.
