SPOKANE -- A murder suspect accused of killing his wife in their Mead home last week is scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday, after recovering from self-inflicted stab wounds.
Jeff Canino was charged with first degree murder in the killing of his wife, Michelle Canino. Michelle was found stabbed to death in the family's kitchen last Wednesday morning, after the couple's 11-year-old son answered the door with bloody hands.
Family members say the son watched his father kill his mother, called 911, and tried to take the knife away from his father. Deputies say Jeff stabbed himself, and was hospitalized until Saturday night when Spokane County Sheriff's deputies moved him from Sacred Heart to the Spokane County Jail.
Jeff is being held on $2.5 million bail. He is expected to be formally charged Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
