OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -- The Washington State Patrol says Trooper Tim Kron of Moses Lake is the patrol's 2012 state trooper of the year.

Kron was commissioned in 2004. He's a car seat technician who checks to make sure child seats are up to date and properly installed. Kron also is a field training officer who trains new troopers.

Trooper Kron has received numerous awards and commendations, including a Chief’s coin for his efforts in speed enforcement, a WSP Bureau Commendation for his 2011 speed enforcement efforts, and the WSP Professional Excellence Award for his Seatbelt enforcement. He received the 2012 Masonic Lodge Public Safety Award, and the Child Restraint “Top Cop."
