MOSES LAKE, Wash.-- Moses Lake High School has put a new emphasis on the dress code this year, but many students are putting up a fight against the changes.
Students say this year’s dress code prohibits revealing clothing as well as anything with alcohol, drug and sexual content. It also bans red and blue solid color shirts because they could signal gang membership or affiliation.
School administrators say a rumor about banning camouflage clothing is untrue. They say they have received many calls from parents about the supposed ban on camouflage.
Principal Josh Meek says the school sent out a letter to all parents re-explaining the dress code to dispel the rumors.
Students and school administrators say social media helped the rumor snowball out of control.
