More Idaho employees make minimum wage compared to every other state in the country, according to the state’s Department of Labor.
The number increased by 12,000 from 2011. Now 31,000 employees make minimum wage, equaling 7.7 percent of the state’s workforce.
Idaho ranked 30 last year.
Three of every four jobs created in the state last year were in the service sector, where the minimum wage jobs are.
Nationally, 4.7 percent of all hourly workers made the minimum wage or less in 2012, down from 5.2 percent the year before.
