MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. -- A Medical Lake woman slept as thieves rifled through her home Sunday night.
She says they took some valuable items, along with medication.
Barbara Jorgenson, 73, noticed things weren’t quite right when she woke up the next morning. Her bedroom door was open, and she always sleeps with it closed. Jorgenson’s cat Millie was also missing.
Deputies say thieves made off with her spoon collection, which included spoons from around the world, as well as several rare coins, a camera and the medication. They even tried to break into her car. Police aren’t yet sure how much the stolen property is worth.
Jorgenson says the thought of someone breaking into her house while she slept is extremely upsetting.
“I just kind of broke down and started crying. Someone was in there and opened up my bedroom door, and I was in bed,” she said.
Deputies say thieves got in through and unlocked window.
Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward to anyone who can provide information that leads to an arrest in this burglary. Tipsters can call 509-456-2233.
Luckily, Mille had just ran outside during the burglary. She returned home later.
