MEAD, Wash. -- Spokane County District Nine Fire Department showed off its skills in preparation for its annual Demo Day and Wellness Fair.
The event is held for both kids and adults to learn more about how to keep themselves safer in the summer months.
Fire Station 92 acted out stunts they would see in real life scenarios. The goal is to educate families on what a firefighter faces every day using simulated burning houses, car accidents, and a flaming propane tank.
“It’s just a real good opportunity to see what their fire department does for them,” said Matt Von Steuben, a firefighter and paramedic.
A full scale demonstration will happen on Saturday to show what the fire department does. It will also highlight common mistakes people make when it comes to fire and small changes they can make to protect themselves.
The Wellness Fair runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The event is free and open to the public.
