Police said they identified Werle as matching the description, walking with his hands in his pocket. They stopped Werle at the checkout counter according to officials.   Officers reportedly discovered a sawed-off shotgun under Werle’s coat.

After Werle was arrested and in a patrol car, he became extremely combative, hitting his head and legs against the car doors and windows, police said. Officers were able to safely place Werle in leg restraints in order to keep him from injuring himself.

The arrest occurred five days after a robbery at the same convenience store.  The suspect in that robbery had still not been caught, according to police.
