POST FALLS, Idaho.—Two people are dead and one man is in police custody as officers investigate a murder. Officers, responding to a welfare check on Tuesday, found the suspect's wife and child dead inside the home.
Late Tuesday, investigators identified the man as Angel Morales-Larrana, 24.
Police responded to a welfare check Tuesday near the intersection of 15th and Spokane Street. A family friend reported Morales-Larrana showed up at her house and admitted to strangling his wife and daughter. The friend called police as the suspect was driving away from her home.
Officers stopped the suspect’s vehicle near Spokane Street and Poleline, where they detained the man, authorities said. Investigators then went to the suspect’s apartment where they found two bodies inside the home. Police said the woman was in her 20's and the child was 6-years-old. Authorities had not confirmed that they were the bodies of the suspect's family on Tuesday, but believed so based on information from friends. Law enforcement was still in the process of notifying family members Tuesday night.
Post Falls Police Department Investigators are investigating. Morales-Larrana was lodged into Kootenai Co. Jail, where he is awaiting charges.
Authorities said the suspect had two more children. They have been placed in protective custody. As of Tuesday night, it was unclear whether the child killed was the child of the suspect.
