SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- Spokane Valley Fire Department says a man in his 30's was injured while trying to jump onto a moving train in Spokane Valley.

Officials said the man was on the Union Pacific train tracks by Felts Field.  They said he was attempting to jump onto a ladder on the back of the train when he fell and the train rolled over his legs.

The Fire Department reported a woman heard the man's screams and called 911.

Authorities said the train was slowing down to a stop for a crew change.

The man is being treated at Sacred Heart Hospital.  Paramedics at the scene told KREM 2 News the man's injuries were so severe, they doubted doctors would be able to reattach the man's legs.
