SPOKANE VALLEY--A Spokane Valley Sheriff's Office deputy responded to an attempted burglary call Monday afternoon. A homeowner said she heard what she thought was her dryer making noise in the downstairs of her house.

The woman said she went downstairs and saw there was someone trying to wiggle the basement door open at her home in the 3300 block of South Woodward Road.

The homeowner went back upstairs, looked out her back sliding door, and saw the suspect walking up the steps on the back deck. The woman said when the suspect saw her he fled from the house.

She described the man as a possibly white male wearing a black hoodie over his head, a dark ski mask, gloves and blue jeans. She said he was about 5' 8".
