COLBERT, Wash. -- A man thought to be targeting Colbert Elementary students turned out to be a false alarm.
Initial reports say a man yelled at students in a threatening way as they walked through a wooded area near the school Wednesday morning.
The sheriff's office says the Colbert students heard a man scream at them. Deputies searched the area but found nothing.
The sheriff’s office commends the children for reporting a possible threat to authorities. Deputies say they rather respond to an empty threat than have danger go unnoticed.
