COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -- A man wanted for four bank robberies in the Spokane area was tracked down in Coeur d’Alene.
Police stopped Brian Douglas Sheldon, 39, after a pursuit through Kootenai County Friday. They say he’s behind robberies at Wells Fargo on North Market, Wells Fargo in Spokane Valley and two at the Bank of Fairfield in Rockford.
He was stopped in Coeur d’Alene after the second Rockford incident.
At a press conference Wednesday, Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich said several law enforcement agencies worked together to make and arrest but ultimately, it was a citizen tips that led to the arrest.
“This is just another example of what happens when citizens get engaged with their law enforcement. We can put individuals committing crimes behind bars where they belong,” he said.
Sheldon also faces charges for eluding police and illegally owning a gun.
