MATTAWA, Wash. – A heated argument between two brothers ended with shots fired and one brother taken to the hospital Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Investigators said sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic violence call with shots fired around 3:30 p.m. on Road 24.7 SW, near Mattawa. When deputies arrived, authorities said they found the 30-year-old victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his leg. The suspected shooter, his brother, Torvio Herrera, 32, was also at the scene, according to deputies.
The victim was transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. His condition was not known Friday.
Torvio Herrera was taken into custody for first degree assault and domestic violence.
A .22 caliber rifle was recovered at the scene, according to deputies.
Officials with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting was an isolated incident and there was no threat to the community.
