SPOKANE -- Classes have not yet started for one North Central High School student, but her senior project has.

Madison McHenry-Kroetch is organizing a golf tournament at Downriver Golf Course, which will be held Sunday in memory of her grandfather.

Golf was a game Greg Kroetch grew to love. He started swinging his clubs at a young age.

Greg passed away more than four years ago, but his undeniable love for the fairway lives on.

Madi spent her summer getting sponsors for the tournament, donations, and making countless phone calls.

All the money raised goes back to Safety Net, a charity that supports local foster children when they age out of the system.

Madison says that her grandpa was always a giving man, and he would have wanted the best for these young people.

”I knew I had to do something big, and I wanted to do something that would make an impact for someone," Madison said.

Twenty tee times are still available.

No matter if you can bogey or birdie, or make a line drive, Madi is hoping this tournament hits a hole-in-one.
