SPOKANE, Wash.--Families may be swimming among sex-offenders as they try to beat the summer heat at public pools.
On Tuesday, KREM 2 News pulled crime statics to determine which public pools had the most sex offenders living nearby. The statistics showed neighborshoods near all six Spokane aquatic centers, the Spokane Valley pools, and pools operated by Spokane County.
The largest number of sex-offenders live near A.M. Cannon Aquatic Center in West Central Spokane.
Figures showed there are 35 registered sex-offenders within one mile of the Cannon pool. Several of the locations showed more than one sex-offenders live in one place.
The Spokane County Sheriff's Office manages the sex-offender registry where you can track offenders in any neighborhood.
Witter, Hillyard, and Liberty pools are next on the list for most offenders nearby. Comstock and both Spokane County aquatic centers show no sex-offenders living nearby.
The registry does not include the dozens of non-compliant offenders who have not told police where they are living.
