SPOKANE-- A local group is opposing proposed local school levies and believe that if they’re passed they’ll do more harm than good.
The group calls itself the “Citizens for Responsible Taxation” and they believe the levy taxes hurt homeowners. The group also claims that the current tax system already in place funds 100% of basic education, without requiring additional levies.
All but two of the school districts in Spokane County have levies on the February 14th ballot.
Friday afternoon local business and education leaders met in downtown Spokane to clear up any misconceptions over the proposed levies. The CFRT was also invited to the meeting but declined.
KREM2 attempted to contact the CFRT but they chose not to provide any additional comment.
