License plate recognition leads to Post Falls arrest

POST FALLS, Idaho -- Two male suspects were arrested on Wednesday during a high-risk traffic stop. Four passengers were in the vehicle and multiple drugs and drug paraphernalia, knives, and two loaded weapons were found by officers.

The License Plate Recognition camera system alerted dispatch of a reported stolen car traveling with the Post Falls jurisdiction.

Darwin Overby, 41 of Moses Lake and Christopher Johnson, 39, of Butte, MT were arrested. Overby had an outsanding felony warrant and was arrested for Grand Theft of a vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Driving While Suspended. Johnson was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, and as a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

The other two passengers were released with no charges. Post Falls Police detectives are working with the Richland Police Department to return the stolen vehicle to the owner.
