FORT SPOKANE, Wash. – Local officials are warning Lake Roosevelt visitors of expected rising water levels for this coming holiday weekend.
Water levels of Lake Roosevelt are expected to rise rapidly up until July 5th since the Grand Coulee Dam has been closed.
The levels of the lake were lower than normal this spring because The Bureau of Reclamation kept levels low for Spring run-off.
Officials say if you are pitching a tent on Lake Roosevelt from now until Tuesday, you should be aware the lake will rise a couple of feet vertically.
Boaters are being told to lookout for floating debris from the shoreline.
The low spring water levels have forced local marinas to alter their operations after missing the Memorial Day crowd.
