SPOKANE, Wash. -- The annual LAXfest Youth Lacrosse Jamboree saw its biggest-ever turnout Saturday.
Lacrosse has gained in popularity in Spokane and across the United States. What used to be Spokane Shootout Lacrosse Jamboree hosted 15 teams in its first year. Now the Spokane LAXfest Youth Lacrosse Jamboree three years later, 45 teams signed up, making it one of the largest lacrosse tournaments in the Northwest.
“Fun, fast-paced and action-packed, those are just some of the reasons we are seeing our lacrosse community grow,” said Damon Sanders, Spokane Youth Lacrosse Marketing Director. “Children of all fitness levels can participate in lacrosse adding to the widespread interest.”
Spokane Youth Lacrosse was hosting the Jamboree at the Spokane Polo Fields in Airway Heights Saturday and Sunday.
Approximately 750 players, ranging in age from 9- to 15-years-old were set to take part in the tournament. Teams from across Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia traveled to Spokane for the event.
