KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho.-- The Kootenai Health Foundation received a $4,500 grant from the IRONMAN Foundation in July to support a traumatic injury prevention program for children.

The Safe Kids Worldwide is a global network of organizations dedicated to eliminating unintentional injury and death to children.  Safe Kids Kootenai County educates the local community on a variety of topics including bicycle, boating, and car safety.  In 2013 the Safe Kids program reached more than 1,600 children through education and safety prevention programs according to leaders.

In conjunction with the 2014 IRONMAN Coeur d’Alene triathlon, the IRONMAN Foundation Community Fund distributed $70,000 in donations to local nonprofit groups in the Coeur d’Alene community. Since the first IRONMAN Coeur d’Alene event in 2003, the foundation raised more than $575,000 for local beneficiaries.
