NEZPERCE, Idaho (AP) -- A 41-year-old northern Idaho man accused of three counts of second-degree murder will be in court later this month to answer to the charges.

Steven Francis of Kamiah is being held at the Lewis County Jail on $50,000 bond ahead of his Oct. 18 hearing.

The Lewiston Tribune reports Francis was allegedly involved in a drug-related shooting on July 31, 2011, when five men went into another man's home carrying weapons and looking for Francis.

After his Sept. 17 arrest in North Dakota, investigators say Francis told them the men were after him because they suspected him of theft.

Three people were treated at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for gunshot wounds following the incident.

Two others in the incident have had aggravated assault and robbery charges dismissed.
