SPOKANE, Wash.— As the numbers rolled in Tuesday, KREM 2 News counted at least 3,600 donations collected during the previous weekend at the KREM Cares Diaper Drive.

For a $10 donation, viewers could purchase a bag with 50 diapers and wipes for the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery. KREM 2 News sold the diaper bags at Spokane area Rosauers on May 8-11.

In 2013, the drive donated 3,600 diaper bags to the nursery. KREM 2 News hoped to reach a total of at least 3,700 diaper bags in 2014.

Officials at the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery said their limited monthly supply for families in need was not enough to keep a child in clean diapers for one full week. The center collects donations online year-round.
