SPOKANE, Wash.-- The howling wind early Monday knocked out power to thousands of homeowners across the Inland Northwest.

Spokane’s South Hill and Sandpoint, Idaho were two of the hardest hit areas.

At the height of the storm, more than 1,500 AVISTA customers were without power in the Sandpoint area.  About, 1,000 homes were without power on South Hill.

Crews restored power to most homes in the early morning hours.
