SPOKANE, Wash. -- Fire badly damaged a house near Sinto and Chestnut in Northwest Spokane.
Firefighters responded to the house fire just before 6 p.m. The first crews on scene reported smoke showing from the south side of the two-story home.
Firefighters then found the fire at the back of the home was extending up the siding and into the interior. They initiated fire attack from the exterior and prevented the fire from spreading to the home’s attic while other fire crews attacked the fire from the interior preventing the fire from extending into the main floor and the second floor.
No injuries were reported. Neighbors said no one was living inside the house and the landlord was preparing it for a new tenant.
The fire caused an estimated $15,000 in damage, mostly to the rear of the house, the back porch, and the attic in the southeast corner of the home.
The cause of the fire was placed under investigation.
