NINE MILE FALLS, Wash. -- Homeowners in the Seven Mile area discovered a decomposing body by a dock near their home, authorities said.
The homeowners called Spokane County Sheriff's deputies to the area on N. Rivermere Ave. late Monday night.
Witnesses said they found the body in the Spokane River, lodged against a dock. They said they thought it was a log at first.
According to deputies, the body - a male - may have been in the water between four and five months. Dive teams transported the remains to the medical examiner to determine cause of death and for identification.
Investigators said it was not clear if foul play was involved, so Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Major Crime Detectives would continue to work with the Medical Examiner’s Office and provide assistance if needed.
