SPOKANE -- Spokane Police say a high-speed police pursuit that started in the Downtown area has come to an end in Post Falls.

Police say they tried to pull-over a man for driving recklessly near Crestline and Sprague, but he wouldn't stop and led them onto Eastbound I-90.

Officers were able to get him to run over spike strips near the Sullivan exit and again near the Barker exit. We're told the driver kept going on rims.

They say he then exited I-90 at milepost 5 in Post Falls. That's where an officer was able to do a pursuit intervention technique maneuver nudging the car and getting it to spin, then stop.

The driver, 29-year-old John Rovik, is in custody for eluding police, DUI and two counts of unlawful imprisonment as he had two passengers in the car who asked him to stop.

The pursuit began at around 4:15 and ended just after 4:30.

Nice work, another criminal off the street, if only for the night.

WoW - SPD is really protecting us, how many lives were endangered by chasing someone for 25 miles at high speed? Aren't they a little out of their jurisdiction in Post Falls? I was excited because I thought someone used spike strips on the police to end the pursuit ... maybe next time. ACAB

"dickcheneyrocks"....you're an idiot. Stick to commenting on things you know about....like Leggos. Or the upside to living in a mobile home community.

Do the crime do the time. Every law abiding american male should be afraid of two things, women and the police. Oh and every non law abiding american male should be twice as afraid.

Yep ... guilty until proven innocent ... that's how democracy works. Last time I checked, however, we were a Constitutional Republic where one is innocent until proven guilty. When you are guilty until proven innocent, the courts represent the state. Under a Constitution Republic with rule by law, the courts are supposed to be neutral. Unfortunately, we no longer have a justice system as one of the three separate branches of government; we have a legal system under a democracy. That means, guilty or innocent, you are guilty in the eyes of the court. That also means law enforcement is not there to protect you but to protect the interests of the state. In other countries that practice democracy, people view the police as the enemy with good reason. So it is becoming in the USA.
